Olypmic Travel and Parking

Things to know when traveling and staying at the lodge during the Olympics

You are able to travel Hwy 99 from 6 pm to 6 am northbound to Whistler.

You can travel from Whislter to Vancouver at any time during the day.

If you have parking at the lodge, your parking will start from 6 pm the day that you arrive to 6 pm the day that you leave this will ensure that there are no more than the allotted 7 cars in the parking lot at any given time.

Parking is available on the streets from 5 pm to 9 am on non bus routes (our street is on a bus route) all other times your car is subject to a ticket and towing.  The reality is that there is nowhere else to park during the day, so do not bring your car if you do not have parking or you will be dealing with the resort to get your car back.

The busses in Whistler are running freequently, and you can take the #4 bus from outside the lodge to the main street station.  Once at this station you can choose to walk to the lifts which is about 10 min, or you can take the special bus that will drop you off at the regular stop by the lifts.  I have had a number of experiences with the busses, some good (17 min door to door), and some bad (>30 min).  You can walk from the lodge to the lifts in about 20 min (brisk walk not in ski boots), this may be an option for you.

Note as well for the busses that the fair saver coupons that you can purchase at Nesters are not valid during this time, so you have to use cash or the month pass, its $2 per ride so bring lots of coins, and be sure to get a transfer so you can get on the special bus.

It is a bit crazy up there, so respect these parking and travel items, respect the other members staying at the lodge, and most of all have a great time.

Thanks

Ian Baron (lodge chairperson)
