Hope everyone had a chance to enjoy the very brief summer. The days are getting shorter and it's already time to start planning for the winter season at the lodge. We're looking at lodge reservations and rates. Depending on when you stay at the lodge there are ten rates - five for members and five for guests.

I think it goes back to when the lodge was busy on weekends and quiet midweek. With all the retired members it can be busy every day of the week. We plan to reduce that to a member rate and a guest rate. And maybe a holiday member and guest rate, too. Discussions continue.

We are also going to reduce the booking time you can reserve from two months to one month ahead. A lot of members send in their request two months out expecting to get to Whistler. Things change and they cancel. About 40% of reservations get cancelled. It's a lot of extra work for Linda (Reservations) and Kathy (Treasurer). The club still incurs non-refundable credit card charges.Hopefully the shorter request booking time will reduce the number of cancellations.

The web site is about to change. The existing site was built over 15 years ago and the underlying software is long out of support. Some features - like the user log in - no longer work.I've been working on a new site over at insideedgeclub.ca. Notice the missing ".BC" part in the name. When the web site was first created long ago the Canadian name registrar thought names should include the province. Names ended in ".ON.CA" for Ontario, ".MB.CA" for Manitoba and so on. The idea never cought on so now it's just ".CA".

I'm keeping both sites up to date but you can't sign in yet. The membership form is connected to a credit card test system so your credit card won't work either. Once the site is officially open you'll be a ble to join or renew your membership immediately.

The new site will be easier to use on phones and tablets. I'm also testing event registration so you'll be able to sign up and pay for events online.
