The Executive has finalized the winter lodge rates and changed how booking works. There's only two rates each for members and guests - the regular daily rate and the holiday rate. We've also dicontinued the requirement for proof of vaccination. You can book up to ONE month in advance.

In past years there were a lot of cancellations. Last year it was around 40%. There's lots of legitimate reasons to cancel and we encourage people who aren't feeling well to cancel but we felt that members were booking as soon as possible even though they weren't sure of their schedule or the mountain conditions. With a shorter booking window maybe there will be fewer cancellations. If you're not feeling well then stay home.

clean up

We had a fall work weekend with six members cleaning up inside and out. Thanks to Kathy, Jim, Dan, Doreen and Steve. We replaced the stoop in front of the shed since Jonathan stepped through it a few weeks ago. It had a few layers of plywood. As one layer rotted away a new layer was nailed on top. The whole thing has been replaced.

shed thermometer

I aslo added a big - 14" - thermometer on the shed so you can decide how many layers to put on before going outside.

Members staying at the lodge will be familiar with Haus Heidi. It's a Barvarian style, eight bedroom, pension (i.e. hostel) on Nester Road. It was for sale last year but at five million was out of reach for the club. Sarah Richardson (an HGTV Canada designer) pruchased it this spring and the renovation project is coming to HGTV. Check out Sarah's Mountain Escape, beginning October 12th.
